Graduate Scholarship in the Netherlands by Leiden University - Graduate Scholarship in the Netherlands by Leiden University
- For those of you who are interested in studying in the Netherlands, take part
in a scholarship that is routinely offered annually by Leiden University in the
Leiden University Excellence Scholarship program (LExS) scheme. This
scholarship is intended for international students (Non-EEA / Non-EFTA)
including Indonesia who are interested in continuing their Masters degree at
Leiden University.
S2 Scholarships in the Netherlands by the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Program
A glimpse of Leiden University. The campus was founded in
1575 and is the oldest university in the Netherlands. In 2019, Leiden
University was ranked 118 out of all universities in the world based on QS
World University Rankings ratings.

STUDY DURATION:
For a 1 year Masters program: a maximum of 12 months
For the 2-year Masters program: a maximum of 24 months
SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP:
A Masters scholarship in the Netherlands by Leiden
University is not a full scholarship. Scholarships are provided in the form of
a reduction in tuition fees ranging from € 10,000, € 15,000, to full tuition
dependents (without statutory tuition fees). Participants can find other
sources of funding or finance independently to meet other needs such as living
expenses, transportation, etc. For information, participants can combine LExS
Scholarships with other types of partial scholarships from parties outside the
campus.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Non-EEA / Non-EFTA citizens (participants from Indonesia can
register).
Enroll in one of the Masters programs at Leiden University
for programs that begin in February 2020 or September 2020. Make sure you meet
the language skills and academic requirements of the study program at Leiden
University (Read Study Programs).
Having a good academic record at the previous educational
level and relevant to the Masters program to be chosen. Participants were
included in the Top 10% of the best graduates at the previous level of
education. Proof of ranking / ranking is not needed, the information is only to
show the level of competitiveness.
Hold a Non-EEA / Non-EFTA passport and do not receive a loan
or study grant from the Netherlands.
Scholarships are not valid for participants who have earned
a Masters degree at Leiden University before.
Students who obtain LExS scholarships must comply and
confirm in writing their agreement to the following Terms and Conditions: Rules
and Regulations.
FILE OF DOCUMENTS REQUIRED (To apply for the intended study
program):
Copy of an official passport
Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English
Proof of English language skills (copy of TOEFL / IELTS /
CPE certificate). Language certificates can be attached following after being
accepted at Leiden University.
Official copy of diploma and transcript of S1. If the
original document is not in English, please use the services of a sworn
translator to translate your diploma and value transcript into English. Then
scan the original documents (diplomas & transcripts in Indonesian) along
with the results of the English translation. For those who have not yet
received a diploma, can inform the estimated graduation date and attach all
transcripts that are owned.
Documents Not Required:
Motivation Letter explaining, "why you want to follow
the program, why you want to do so at Leiden University, and what makes you
think you will be a good candidate". Motivation letters are between 700
and 1500 words and are written in English.

All of the documents above can be scanned for upload on the
online registration form.
HOW TO REGISTER:
Applications for S2 Scholarships in the Netherlands are
submitted together with registration to Leiden University, so participants do
not need to submit separate applications. The following registration steps must
be done:
Fill out the Registration Form online at the following link:
Online Application.
Upload all required documents above.
When filling out the registration form especially in the
scholarship section, mention that you want to apply for the LExS Scholarship.
Do the same thing if you register more than one Masters program. Still on the
same page, upload a Letter of Motivation with a maximum length of 500 words
containing an explanation of why you want to be considered in the LExS
Scholarship Program.
Submit online registration before the registration deadline.
Participants will later be asked to pay an online
registration fee of € 100 (university registration fee). Participants who have
received a review letter from the Leiden Science Indonesia Office (LESIO) and
are interested in applying to the MSc program will not be charged a
registration fee.
The application deadline is October 1, 2019 for lectures
beginning in February 2020. And for courses beginning in September 2020 the
application deadline is February 1, 2020 and March 1, 2020 (for LLM Advanced
Studies program programs).
The selection committee from the faculty will assess the
registration submitted by each participant. All participants will be notified
of the results of scholarship selection at the end of November 2019 (for lectures
in February 2020) and end of April 2020 (for lectures in September 2020).
